Milind D. Shinde


Milind D. Shinde is an Indian entrepreneur who served as Founder and CEO of the media company 88 Pictures[2] based in Mumbai, India.[1] Shinde was part of the core team involved in setting up the production of the India business unit of DreamWorks Animation Studios. While with DreamWorks, he had the opportunity to work heavily on a number of popular animated film franchises including How to Train Your Dragon, Puss in Boots, and Madagascar, all through the DreamWorks Dedicated Unit, India, as well as Kung Fu Panda through what was then Oriental DreamWorks,[2] but is now known as Pearl Studios. [1]

After formally leaving DreamWorks in mid-2015 and serving a brief year stint as Chief Operating Officer at Assemblage Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Shinde officially created 88 Pictures,[1] which ultimately led to his role developing the Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 episode "The Bandits of Golak", which aired on May 4, 2023.[3] During the Autodesk Convergence 2023 event, Shinde gave a presentation covering the ideas behind "The Bandits of Golak" entitled "Bringing Breathtaking Stories & Characters to Life from India to the World," where he showcased exclusive concept art and what inspired the various cultural elements behind the finished product.[4]

Since then, 88 Pictures has launched a Game Development Division known as 88 Games which Shinde also manages,[1] and he has expressed the idea that some of what he and the studio created in "The Bandits of Golak," such as Le'bi, may return to the Star Wars franchise in some form someday.[5]
