Matter catalysts, also known as blenders, were appliances that allowed for space travel. Most households on Urthha possessed at least one matter catalyst.[1]
When Duros newlyweds Etro and Droza Edthatt were abducted to Urthha, they managed to escape using matter catalysts.[1]
Behind the scenes
The matter catalyst was featured in a supermarket tabloid parody attributed to Trebor Uarrac of the Galactic Gossip in Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, a book published in 1993 that combined photos and concept art from the original trilogy and other Lucasfilm productions with a variety of short fiction pieces. In the story, two Duros newlyweds named Etro and Droza Edthatt are "abducted by human beings" from the planet Urthha. After over four solar periods of bizarre experiences, they somehow use a "matter catalyst," which the humans call a "blender," to leave the planet.[1]
Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, has indicated that information contained in the book is non-canonical.[2]
