- "Don't worry, there are plenty of places to hide out. You don't have to go planetside."
"What'd you have in mind?"
"Maybe the Mataou fuel station… they'd never look for you there." - ―Solomahal and Covah
The Mataou fuel station orbited the world Mataou,[2] which was situated in the Mataou system, a part of the Anoat sector. It was a part of the Greater Javin region within the Western Reaches portion of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] The station circled Mataou at a safe distance above its dangerous desert surface and served as a refueling point for starships traveling along the Ison Corridor hyperlane.[2]
At one point during the reign of the Galactic Empire, Solomahal,[2] a drifter and freelance scout piloting the YV-888 freighter QuadStar,[3] agreed to transport the fugitive Covah off[2] the Arkanis sector planet Tatooine[4] and into hiding from the Empire. As the QuadStar was departing Tatooine, Solomahal and Covah discussed possible locations in the Greater Javin at which the latter could hide, with the former suggesting the Mataou fuel station as an option and claiming that the Imperials would "never" look for the fugitive there.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Mataou fuel station was introduced in Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Roleplaying Game supplement "Galactic Gazetteer: Hoth and the Greater Javin," which was published on Wizards.com on March 25, 2004.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Mataou system, and therefore the station, in grid square K-18.[1]
