A masking transponder was a device manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation that was used to replicate starship-identifying signals, thereby masking a starship's actual signal or acting as a diversion.[1]
In 4 BBY, the smuggler Lando Calrissian owned numerous masking transponders which he kept at his farm on Lothal. Calrissian traded at least four of these transponders to the Spectres in exchange for three Imperial 49-v99 Deflector shield generators. The transponders helped masked the rebels' escape from Lothal.[3]
