Marinda Gan

Marinda Gan was a female Twi'lek bounty hunter who was a member of the Spice Runners of Kijimi. Along with several other smugglers of the Spice Runners, Gan was left stuck on the moon Yavin 4 following the death of their pilot. Marinda Gan was a hardened warrior who was not known for her patience. During her time with the Spice Runners, she wielded a Twi'lek lyaer'tsa, a traditional weapon of her people.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Marinda Gan first appeared in the canon young-adult novel Poe Dameron: Free Fall, which was authored by Alex Segura^[1] and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press on August 4, 2020.^[3] The Twi'lek was later depicted in the comic book one-shot Return of the Jedi – The Rebellion 1, which was written by Segura, illustrated by Matt Horak, Brent Peeples, and Rafael Pimentel, and published by Marvel Comics on July 19, 2023.^[4]

Contradictions

The novel Poe Dameron: Free Fall established that Gan had a red skin through the mention of her "red lekku appendages;"^[1] however, the one-shot Return of the Jedi – The Rebellion 1 retconned her into having a blue skin instead.^[2] This change was supported further by Gan's other visual appearances, such as the second^[5] and third issue of the 2024 comic book mini-series Star Wars: Battle of Jakku — Insurgency Rising.^[6]
