Mara Jade – By the Emperor's Hand 0 was a preview to the Star Wars: Mara Jade – By the Emperor's Hand comic, released before the beginning of the miniseries' run and included in the trade paperback by Dark Horse Comics. Set shortly before Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and over four years before the rest of the comic, Issue 0 shows Mara Jade planning an infiltration mission to spy on Wilhuff Tarkin, and shows Palpatine introducing her to Darth Vader for the first time.
