Mandalorian poetry was poetry composed by members of the Mandalorian culture, often in their native language, Mando'a.
Poetic or sung Mando'a was considerably more free-form than the language was more commonly spoken, and while the meaning of these works were easily understood by native speakers as most songs and poems were embedded in the broader culture, they could become difficult for non-Mandalorians to properly translate.[1]
Behind the scenes
Mandalorian poetry was first discussed in The Mandalorians: People and Culture, written by Karen Traviss and published in 2006 as part of the eighty-sixth issue of Star Wars Insider.[1]
Jeffrey Brown's non-canonical childrens' novel Jedi Academy by Jeffrey Brown states that the study of Mandalorian poetry was a requirement for Padawans at the Jedi academy on Coruscant.[2]
