"Bright suns, young Jules! Do you need assistance?"
"Not today, Mako. We're nearly there."
―Mako and Julen Rakab[1]

Mako was Quarren male who lived on the Outer Rim planet Batuu. By the time of the war between the First Order and the Resistance, he appeared elderly.[1] In 34 ABY,[2] Mako took a walk on a road within Batuu's Black Spire Outpost and called out a friendly greeting to the farmer Julen Rakab and his companion Izal Garsea while heading their way.[1]

Upon noticing that Rakab and Garsea were pushing their malfunctioning speeder, Mako offered to assist them the rest of the way to the local mechanic Salju's workshop. Although appreciative of the offer, Rakab declined as they had nearly arrived at their destination. The Quarren continued slowly walking alongside them down the road, closely keeping pace with the pair for some time. On the day he conversed with Rakab and Garsea, Mako wore a brightly colored tunic and carried a pickax tool over his shoulder. That day, Garsea observed that Mako's tentacles appeared to be coated in a dust that shimmered.[1]

Behind the scenes

Mako appeared in A Crash of Fate, a 2019 young-adult novel written by Zoraida Córdova.[1]
