Makeb Drilling Platforms were the mining platforms used by the Hutt Cartel in the Cartel mining mesa on the planet Makeb. The platforms used mining lasers to drill into the planet's core for isotope-5. During the conflict, Sith Empire forces attacked the platforms and commandeered them in order to halt the planet's impending destruction.[1]

Makeb Drilling Platforms were added to the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic along with the rest of the planet Makeb in the 2013 Digital Expansion Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel.[1] Their model for the game was designed by Clint Young, an art director and concept artist, who worked as a senior conceptual artist of Star Wars: The Old Republic at Bioware.[2]
