- "What can I do for you, gents?"
"I am a lady." - ―Temmin's first encounter with Makarial Gravin
Makarial Gravin was a female Koorivar gangster who worked for the Sullustan crime lord Surat Nuat on the planet Akiva shortly after the battle of Endor. She and her fellow gangsters Toomata Wree and Herf visited Temmin Wexley's junk shop to confront the human youth for stealing supplies from Surat's transport. Temmin set his B1-series battle droid Mister Bones on them. During the fight, Makarial managed to point her blaster at Temmin's head but was incapacitated by a narcotic needle from Wexley's repurposed interrogator droid.
Biography
Trusted member of a gang
Makarial Gravin was a female Koorivar gangster who lived on the planet Akiva during the Age of the Empire.[1] She worked for the crime lord Surat Nuat, who operated out of The Alcazar cantina in Akiva's capital city Myrra.[2]
By 3 ABY,[3] Nuat had formed an alliance with the Hutt Cartel making the gang and its members an extension of the Hutt's business on Akiva. As a result, the gang had access to a vault within the Hutt Cartel District of Myrra, with Gravin having one of at least three keycards required to unlock the vault.[2] In 3 ABY,[3] she stored her keycard at a small supply camp in the Hunter's Canopy region of Akiva, north-west of Myrra.[2]
That year,[3] the thief Kay Vess learned of her keycard and its approximate location from a data terminal near the sealed vault. She later stole the keycard from the camp and used it and the two other keycards to deactivate the vault's ray shield and steal some of its contents.[2]
Knife to a droid fight
- "You stole from Surat. Worse, you have offended him with grave insult by taking what is rightfully his."
- ―Makarial confronting Temmin
Following the Battle of Endor, Makarial and her fellow gangsters, the Abednedo Toomata Wree and the Ithorian Herf visited Temmin Wexley's store to confront the youth for stealing a valuable shipment of data cubes from Surat's wrecked ship which had crashed on Trabzon Road. When Temmin mistook her for a gentleman, she identified herself as a lady.[1]
During the confrontation, Makarial held a knife against Temmin's throat to force the boy to cooperate. When the boy offered to trade a speeder bike or a couple of droids, Makarial dismissed Temmin as a fake junk merchant. She then pressed her knife closer to the boy's throat. Makarial then offered to spare the boy if he sold his junkshop to Surat. Since this would mean selling off his livelihood, Temmin instead offered to show them "something big." This turned out to be his modified B1-series battle droid Mister Bones.[1]
Makarial and her associates initially dismissed Mister Bones as a relic of the Clone Wars. However, Temmin activated the droid with his voice and order Bones to take out the gangsters. Mister Bones managed to knock Tooms and Herf unconscious. However, Makarial managed to sneak behind Temmin and pointed a blaster at his head. When the boy tried to pick up his own blaster, she warned him not to do it. Makarial tried to force Temmin to order Bones to back off. Instead, Temmin's modified interrogator droid incapacitated her with a toxic narcotic. After defeating the gangsters, Temmin order Bones to dump them into the Kora Biedies. Instead, the droid was immobilized by Surat's henchmen.[1]
Personality and traits
- "A battle droid? You wanted to show us... a battle droid? The most incompetent droid soldier in the history of both the Republic and the Empire. A mechanical comedy of errors. And you believe that Surat Nuat wants a meager, worthless B1 droid?"
- ―Makarial underestimating Temmin Wexley
Makarial Gravin was a female Koorivar gangster who was a good talker but was also prepared to use violence to achieve her goals. She was smarter than her male colleagues Tooms and Herf but was still no match for the bold cunning of Temmin Wexley. Makarial had a low opinion of B1 battle droids which led her to underestimate Temmin's bodyguard Mister Bones.[1]

Makarial first appeared in Chuck Wendig's 2015 novel Aftermath, which was published as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens series.[1]
