"This is my first official assignment for a galaxy far, far away. And a Pride one, nonetheless! As a queer Star Wars fan it feels awesome to contribute to this aspect of the franchise. Fully developed characters like Magna and Doctor Aphra prove once again that comics as a medium is the place in entertainment where limits and representation are pushed and equality is restored."
―Luciano Vecchio, on his Magna Tolvan art[4]

Luciano Vecchio (born 1982)[1] is an Argentine comic book artist.[3] StarWars.com announced Vecchio illustrated the 2023 Pride Month variant cover for the thirty-fifth issue of the 2020 comic series Star Wars: Darth Vader on March 10, 2023.[5] StarWars.com revealed the illustration itself—Imperial defect[6] Magna Tolvan, an LGBTQIA+ character—six days later in an article showcasing all the Pride Month variant covers for that year. Vecchio shared that[4] he[2] was excited as a queer Star Wars fan to contribute to a Pride assignment for the galaxy far, far away. He also supported comics as a medium for pushing representation and restoring equality, citing Tolvar and Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra as examples.[4]
