Low-Friction Coating was a type of modification that could be applied to hard surfaces.[1]

Characteristics

Low-friction coatings worked by drastically lowering the coefficient of friction against a hard surface. By applying the coatings to armor, it became almost impossible to be gripped or squeezed. Further, glancing blows from melee weapons were often unable to find purchase, diminishing the damage they did by simply sliding off. The downside of these coatings was that it made maintenance very difficult, as tools and equipment often could not grip the perpetually slick surface.[1]
