Lobel were slow-moving quadrupeds that naturally produced powerful magnetic fields that impeded the operation of nearby navigation devices and (reportedly) gave pilots headaches.[3] Lobels were one of the few species that was actually indigenous to the toxic planet Quesh though they were also found in small pockets across the galaxy.[2] As a result, their gills were capable of protecting them from the many hazardous liquids found on the planet.[4] Another adaptation to survive in toxic environments was the lobel's four stomachs. These had a redundancy function where if one stomach was damaged, others could be used for digesting in its stead. Additionally, the Lobel's slow metabolism helped it survive in times of food scarcity.[2]

Behind the scenes

Lobel was created for use in Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, but was left out of the film.[5]
