"When he returns from wherever he has gone, I'm going to harshly reprimand him… then tell him about the time I ran into those mercenaries on Liaq."
―Beryl Chiffonage, personal addendum to Rebel Task Force on Alliance Security SecuriDex file on Risiev Credal[2]

Liaq was a terrestrial celestial body[2] located in the Core Worlds' Liaq system.[1] At some point by 2 ABY,[3] the Rebel Alliance officer Beryl Chiffonage encountered a group of mercenaries on Liaq. Later, when,[2] around 2 ABY,[3] the Alliance officer Risiev Credal jumped to hyperspace during a patrol, with all contact with him being lost, he was considered to have potentially defected to the Galactic Empire. Chiffonage, who had mentored Credal, subsequently made a personal addendum to a Task Force on Alliance Security SecuriDex datafile on the latter officer. In the comment, Chiffonage noted that, when Credal returned,[2] he[4] would reprimand him and then tell him about the encounter on Liaq.[2]

Behind the scenes

Liaq was mentioned in Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 sourcebook for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas subsequently placed the Liaq system, and therefore the celestial body itself, in grid square M-11.[1]
