The lava cannon was an unusual weapon developed on the planet Mustafar which fired super heated rocks or ore at a target. It produced an extremely devastating path of destruction by spewing large globs of highly flammable, lava-like substance. The lava splash would hit all opponents within a short range of the target. As the fuel of the weapon was so heavy, it made the weapon somewhat difficult to wield. In the hands of a commando, the cannon was especially dangerous.
A variant was the Devastator lava cannon.
