Laser Tether

Laser Tethers^[2] or electrical tethers^[3] were cables formed of solid energy that were generated from specialized technological belts. Taking the appearance of crackling yellow electricity, these tethers had a pre-determined maximum distance, forcing those restrained by them close together and encouraging close-quarters combat.^[1] To create the tether, only one user required the belt, though the life of these lasers was rather short, petering out and requiring a recharge before being able to activate again.^[2] If at least two individuals connected their belts, however, the tether would remain energized seemingly indefinitely, requiring one of the participants to disable their belt to end the connection.^[1]

By 9 ABY,^[4] the Trandoshan Hunter Charr was utilizing a Laser Tether to assist him during the Hunters of the Outer Rim competition hosted within Grand Arena on the planet Vespaara.^[2] That same year,^[5] former Rebel shock trooper Carasynthia Dune also dueled using one of these tethers in the Common House on Sorgan, forcing her opponent to concede and deactivate their belt shortly before being recruited by the Mandalorian Din Djarin to help take down the Imperial remnant that had taken over Greef Karga's city on Nevarro.^[1]
