LIN-V8M was an armored LIN demolitionmech autonomous minelayer in service to the Galactic Empire. Originally created to set charges inside ore and spice mines, it had been converted for military use.[3] LIN-V8M was present on the Death Star I and was destroyed along with that battle station during the Battle of Yavin.[1] A similar droid, designated LIN-V8K was in the same Sandcrawler as C-3PO and R2-D2.
