Kratu was a humanoid female Jedi who obtained kyber from the Korban miner Abat on the planet Korba.[1] At one point, Kratu traveled to Korba and discovered that Aau, Abat's daughter, could purify kyber crystals by singing.[1]
History
Traveling to Korba

By 19 BBY,[2] Kratu traveled to the planet Korba to meet with the Korban Abat, a kyber miner who supplied her with kyber crystals. Upon Kratu's arrival, Abat's daughter Aau climbed a cliff with a rope and looked at the landscape's spires, singing and watching as the Jedi Kratu's starship traveled to her home, rushing there. Abat and his daughter then ate a soup shortly before Kratu landed her starship near their home.[1]
Inside Abat's home, he and Kratu had a conversation regarding the red kyber crystals. During the conversation, Aau listened in through a window and started to sing, connecting to the kyber. As a result, the girl fell from the window. Abat and Kratu walked outside and Abat started to remind his child that he had told her to keep her distance. Kratu, however, interrupted him, greeting Aau and noting that the crystals "called" to her. Kratu then left, saying she had things to do in town. Abat told Aau that using her voice near the kyber was dangerous.[1]

Later that day, Aau would cause a cave-in at one of the kyber mines where Abat was working by using her voice. The pair tried to escape via a wooden bridge, however the cave's fall had collapsed the nearby spires and the subsequent chasm detached one of the bridge's sides. Abat fell and Aau tried to hold one of the poles holding the bridge but she failed, crying and falling with her father. Kratu appeared moments before the pair slammed into the ground and used the Force to stop their fall. She then created a Force shield to protect them from the stones falling above them.[1]
Closing her eyes, Aau sang, purifying the spires' crystals and stopping the spires' collapse. She buried her face in Abat's shoulder as he kneeled in amazement. Kratu, amazed, told Abat that she could help Aau nurture her voice if she came with her, telling Abat that they "could not choose where their calling took them, only whether or not they would answer.[1]
Aau would accompany Kratu in her starship when she left Korba the next day.[1]
Personality and traits
Kratu wielded a blue-bladed lightsaber.
Like many Jedi, Kratu maintained a calm and kind demeanor. She was interested in the impurity of the kyber on Korba. Kratu was part of humanoid species that had purple skin and black face markings. She also had bright green eyes.[1]
Equipment
Kratu wore a large, wide brimmed hat and a pair of earrings made out of blue stone. Additionally, she wore a hooded, poncho-like overcoat and golden neck rings. Kratu wielded a blue-bladed lightsaber.[1]
Skills and abilities
As a Jedi, Kratu was Force-sensitive and had the ability to wield the Force. She had the ability to use telekinesis and create force barriers.[1]
Behind the scenes
Kratu appeared in the Triggerfish studio's short film "Aau's Song," the ninth episode of the anthology series Star Wars: Visions's second season, which released[1] on May 4, 2023.[3] She was voiced by Cynthia Erivo.[1]
