The Kostra system was a part of the Romintine sector[1] in the Trans-Hydian portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] It contained the inhabited terrestrial astronomical object Kostra.[3] At some point between 2 BBY and 0 BBY,[2] the forces of the Galactic Empire attacked Kostra[3] as part of its attempts to suppress Rebel Alliance activities. During that confrontation, Imperial Senator Leia Organa visited the Kostra system on her consular starship, the Tantive IV, and the visit was one of a number of instances where Organa helped the Alliance with logistical or communications support or intentionally caused a distraction for Imperial forces.[2]
In addition, during that same engagement,[3] in which the Empire emerged victorious,[2] the Alliance Y-wing starfighter pilot Fulkrehm Protial was forced to crash-land on Kostra. By the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Protial, who had survived the incident, had gone on to serve at the Rebel base on[3] the Outer Rim Territories[4] celestial body Berrol's Donn.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Kostra system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square Q-8.[2]
