Kho Phon Farrus' machine

A machine made of technology from the Ascendant cult was created^[1] between 3 ABY and 4 ABY^[2] by the archaeologist Kho Phon Farrus to help them and "The Archivist" open the Fermata Cage. According to Farrus, the machine was able to take energy of the dark side of the Force that was near it and focus it like a lens. As the Cage required dark side energy to fully activate, Farrus hoped their machine would be able pull in the dark side energy near the machine and then shoot it at the Cage, and open it. When Farrus activated the machine, it sent out a massive disturbance in the Force felt by the Sith Lords Darth Sidious and Darth Vader, as well as the Jedi Luke Skywalker and Yoda. The activation also overwhelmed Farrus and the Archivist, who were almost killed, and their attempt to open the Fermata Cage failed. As Farrus turned off the machine, Sidious was able to discover their location and sent Vader to retrieve the Fermata Cage.^[1] The machine was later destroyed by Vader after he arrived at the planet to retrieve the Fermata Cage and kill Farrus and the Archivist. Though the machine was destroyed, wreckage from it later killed the Orphan Sear after she was Force pushed into it by Vader.^[3]
