- "No, no, that was NOT our hyperdrive coils... That was just the ship settling after that exhausting jump... yeah that's it."
- ―Kara Saffch
Kara Saffch was a Human female salvage expert and the captain of the YT-1300 light freighter Night Havok. Known for her upbeat and cocky demeanor, Kara operated primarily out of the Korbin system with her younger brother and technical genius, Willi.
Biography
Kara and Willi ran away from home when Kara was seventeen years old, seeking adventure and freedom among the stars. Over the next decade, the siblings experienced numerous escapades, eventually acquiring their own freighter, the Night Havok, albeit with considerable debt attached. Realizing the low cost of living in the Korbin system, they chose to operate from there.
To support themselves, they turned to salvage work and occasional passenger runs. Kara refused to become a pirate, unlike the "carrion eaters" who preyed on other salvage vessels. Instead, she and Willi were among the few salvagers known for taking on high-risk jobs for little reward—sometimes for causes they believed in.
Personality and traits
Kara was confident and proud, often putting on an “everything is under control” front, especially in emergencies. Despite frequent malfunctions aboard the Night Havok, Kara remained enthusiastic about her work.
Powers and abilities
She had strong skills in starship piloting, starship gunnery, astrogation and repulsorlift operations.
Equipment
She was typically dressed in a flight suit and comfortable jacket. Kara carried a blaster, a comlink, and a space suit.
