"If anyone finds this, please tell Jeridel of my fate. I am Jenson, lead creature handler for this lab. Something has gone wrong, and the creatures are loose. The Engineered Acklay attacked me when I tried to feed it, and since then, I have been slowly bleeding to death down here."
―Jenson's final datapad entry[2]

Jenson was a male beast master who lived on Corellia during the Galactic Civil War. Jenson was the brother of Jeridel. After the Battle of Yavin, both worked in an illegal lab on Corellia,[2] a lab specialized in bio-engineering creatures through dangerous genetic experiments.[3] In 1 ABY,[1] Jenson was promoted as lead creature handler. However, when he attempted to feed an engineered acklay, it attacked, leaving him bleeding to death. Before he died, he left a message on his datapad for Jeridel. Three days later,[2] a spacer working for Lieutenant Joth of the Corellian Security Force arrived to investigate the lab,[4] Jeridel hired the spacer to search the laboratory to find out what had happened to Jenson. The spacer later returned and informed Jeridel that Jenson had been killed by the acklay.[2]

Behind the scenes

Jenson's skeletal remains appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] Jenson was added to the game with the release of the "Publish 28," on April 26, 2006.[6]

Jenson's species was never identified, and as Jeridel's species was randomly generated, it is impossible to deduce the species from their biological relation. However, Jenson was some sort of humanoid species.[2]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
