The Jedi village was a settlement on the Temple Island of Ahch-To inhabited by early Jedi.
Description
This settlement was constructed an unfathomable number of years prior to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker's residence in the village, and consisted of ancient stone structures and cold huts that offered few comforts for their inhabitants. Skywalker himself made his home in a hut in the village,[1] and accommodated Rey in another during her stay on the island. Caretakers of the Lanai also lived in and maintained the village huts.[3]
History
Rey enters the Jedi village in search of Luke Skywalker.
A small, modest village was founded on the Temple Island to house the first members of the Jedi Order. Thousands of years later, the Jedi village still stood, though it had been forgotten over time and through generations of Jedi Knights and Masters. Despite the Jedi's departure, the Caretakers, who cared for the site, had not abandoned their mission and continued to maintain the huts in livable condition. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker had rediscovered the existence of the village while studying the Order's past.[2]
Behind the scenes
Scenes at the village were shot on location on the island of Skellig Michael off the coast of Ireland, with the ruins of an ancient Christian monastery, once the home of Celtic Monks who lived as isolated hermits sheltered away from mainstream civilization, used to portray the temple.[4]
