Jeanne Lauren worked as one of the Creature Technicians on the 1983 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[1]

Lauren contributed extensively to the Jabba’s Palace scenes, creating and operating practical effects for characters like the Gamorrean Guards, Droopy McCool, and others. Her role at ILM involved "skinning" the foam characters by applying latex and fabric to maintain flexibility and lifelike qualities. Additionally, Lauren was involved in creating flexible support systems for the costumes to ensure actors like Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) could move comfortably.[2]

One of her most memorable experiences was traveling to London to assist with filming at Elstree Studios, where she was part of the on-set creature team. Beyond her technical work, Jeanne also dressed actors and kept costumes functional during the demanding production schedule. Her background in dance and puppetry enabled her to bring movement and life to characters, while her skills in sewing and design helped bridge the gap between costume and creature departments.[2]

Outside of her work in Star Wars, Jeanne Lauren also had a career in creating mascots and costumes for corporate clients, using the same techniques she mastered at ILM. Her experience extended beyond just building; she also performed inside many of these creations, further showcasing her unique blend of technical and performance talents.[2]
