The humanoid species training master Jaing belonged to possessed skulls that bore a striking resemblance to that of a male mythosaur.[1]
The skull of Jaing's species served as the initial inspiration for the Mandalorian crest.
Members of the species had large horns that grew downwards out of the sides of their elongated heads and could live for thousands of years. The only known member of the species, Jaing, was a renowned Mandalorian training master who fought in multiple Mandalorian conflicts over the millennia.[2] The Mandalorian clans who served under Jaing adopted a crest that bore the skull of his species as a way to honor him. Due to the skull's close resemblance to the skull of a male mythosaur, the Mandalorians of later times would interpret the crest as a depiction of a mythosaur skull. While the Mandalorians would adopt the crest as the collective symbol of their people, all connections to the crest with Jaing and his species were forgotten.[3]
