- "There's not a cage in the galaxy that can hold the illustrious Jadd Flaxum."
- ―Jadd Flaxum
Jadd Flaxum was a Quarren male spy who worked for the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate during the Imperial Era. He was the partner of the Crimson Dawn contract broker Dart Subterra, residing on the planet Kijimi. After Flaxum concluded an infiltration of a Pyke Syndicate starship in 3 ABY, he was captured from the Kijimi system by pirates led by Procyon Wy. Intending to ransom Flaxum to the Pykes, Wy took him to Achra Station in the Akiva system. Subterra hired the scoundrel Kay Vess to rescue Flaxum.
Biography
- "I was captured at the end of an undercover engagement with the Pykes. A fleeting moment of vulnerability. Now it seems these pirates want to ransom me off."
- ―Jadd Flaxum
The Quarren male Jadd Flaxum served as a spy for the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate during the Imperial Era. He was the partner of Dart Subterra, a contract broker who also worked for Crimson Dawn, and resided with him on the planet Kijimi.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] Flaxum infiltrated a smuggling crew of the Pyke Syndicate aboard a starship within the Kijimi Nebula in the Kijimi system. During his infiltration, he stole an informant list and subsequently destroyed the vessel in his exit. However, his escape pod was captured by a group of pirates led by Procyon Wy, who intended to ransom Flaxum to the Pyke Soren Chrephontis.[1]
Subterra hired the scoundrel Kay Vess to rescue his partner from the Pyke ship, though did not inform her of the true nature of the "cargo" she was to retrieve. After Flaxum sent out a distress call, Vess arrived in her EML-850 light freighter Trailblazer as the pirates captured the spy. Wy brought Flaxum to the space station Achra Station in the Akiva system, trapping the spy within a locked room while she contacted Chrephontis. The Pyke was reluctant to pay the price Wy demanded, leading the pirate to threaten to ransom Flaxum back to Crimson Dawn instead.[1]
Once Vess followed the pirates to Achra Station and located Flaxum, the spy called out for help, explaining his situation to the scoundrel. The scoundrel located Wy and stole her keycard, unlocking the door and freeing Flaxum. The spy was thankful, questioning whether Subterra had sent Vess. Flaxum subsequently departed aboard his own vessel, which had been hidden nearby. Wy pursued Vess in retaliation for her rescue of Flaxum, but was defeated by the scoundrel.[1]
Personality and traits
- "Sounds like you're a popular guy."
"I would hope so." - ―Kay Vess and Jadd Flaxum
Jadd Flaxum was confident in his abilities, believing that Subterra had not needed to send for his rescue and perceiving his capture by Wy to be a brief moment of vulnerability. He hoped to be popular and was taken aback by Vess simply referring to him as "guy in the pod." Flaxum preferred the comfort of his own starship rather than traveling in others' vessels and believed the Pyke Syndicate to be an inferior organization to Crimson Dawn. He referred to Procyon Wy as "charming," while the pirate leader herself considered him to be soft. The Quarren possessed tan skin and blue eyes.[1]
Skills and abilities
- "He infiltrated your best smuggling crew, stole your informant list, and, my favorite part, slagged your ship on the way out."
- ―Procyon Wy, to Soren Chrephontis
As a spy, Flaxum was able to infiltrate what Wy claimed was one of the Pykes' best smuggling crews.[1]
Equipment
- "But my own vessel's hidden nearby and I prefer the comforts of home."
- ―Jadd Flaxum
Flaxum possessed a starship, which featured a bath and was crewed by R5. The Quarren wore an outfit consisting of a red tunic and pants alongside a black cape, pauldrons, belt, and shoes.[1]
Behind the scenes
Jadd Flaxum appeared in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws. In the syndicate quest "Passenger," after the player, as Kay Vess, rescues Flaxum, they can choose to either let him keep the Pyke informant list or demand that he give it to them. The choice determines the resulting reputation changes for both Crimson Dawn and the Pyke Syndicate, though Flaxum is freed in either case. When the player allows Flaxum to keep the list, Vess offers to rescue him in the Trailblazer, though the spy intends to depart on his own vessel while Vess distracts the pirates. If the player sides with the Pykes, Flaxum is displeased but resolves to find other informant lists, inviting Vess to visit him and Subterra if she wishes to work with a "real" syndicate.[1]
