A mining tool could be used to extract the liquid interior from an ipsium crystal without disturbing the volatile mineral. It contained a drill and a canister, each of which could be deployed independently; a user could first drill into the crystal to reach its interior and then attach the canister into it while drawing the valve, collecting the liquid ipsium inside of it. The canisters could then be removed from the device and stored separately. In 19 BBY, Omega used the tool to mine for ipsium inside Ciddarin Scaleback's mine on Ipsidon.[1]
