An Intravenous Access Unit (IAU) was a medical device that was applied to an individual's chest. When activated, the catheter burrowed directly through the skin to enter the large subclavian vein attached to the heart.[1] 2-1B surgical droids were programmed to use Intravenous Access Units to treat enzyme eruptions in the third heart of the Pui-ui species.[2] Doctor Aurin Leith used one to treat Gebnerret Vibrion during his rescue from Selnesh Imperial Detention Center. She used it to administer Clondex and other medicines to treat his Zithrom's syndrome.[1]
