- "Now, we're not getting power to the induction coils."
"It should be working." - ―Torra Doza and Kazuda Xiono, working to fix the Colossus's artificial gravity systems
An induction coil was a type of coil that could be used in artificial gravity systems. While aboard the supertanker fuel depot Colossus[1] in 34 ABY,[2] the racer[3] Torra Doza worked with Resistance operative Kazuda Xiono to fix the station's artificial gravity systems. Though Xiono momentarily fixed the issue by working on a console, the system soon broke again, with Doza pointing out that his change resulted in the induction coils losing power. Though he was frustrated by the response and insisted that it should be working, the Colossus's artificial gravity was eventually fixed later that day.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, induction coils were mentioned in "Into the Unknown,"[1] the first episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance, which aired on October 6, 2019.[4] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, induction coils first appeared via hologram in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a 2008 novel written by Sean Williams.[5] In the real-world, induction coils are electrical devices that produce an intermittent source of high voltage.[6]
