Inath was a male individual hailing from the planet Ralltiir.[1] He was a New Republic senator[2] and a member of the New Republic Ruling Council[1][3] in 11 ABY.[4]
Biography
During the Imperial Period, Inath of Ralltiir saw many of his associates murdered by Emperor Palpatine's Noghri Death Commandos.[1] At some point after the establishment of the New Republic in 4 ABY,[5] he became a New Republic senator.[2]
When Leia Organa Solo was elected Chief of State in 11 ABY,[5] Inath was a member of the New Republic Ruling Council,[1][3] and among those who pressured her to retire her Noghri bodyguards.[6][1]
The Noghri's life debt to their Mal'ary'ush had become an evident political problem for Organa Solo within days after the assault on Mount Tantiss,[7] in 9 ABY.[5] Several species that had once been enslaved by the Galactic Empire were opposed to her relationship with the Noghri, including the Elomin representative to the New Republic who went so far as to call Organa Solo a "slaver."[7]
Inath claimed that keeping the Noghri bodyguards sent the wrong signal,[1] as they had been a weapon used by Emperor Palpatine.[6] Mon Mothma also gently pressured Organa Solo for months to cut her ties with the Noghri.[7]
Eventually, in the face of mounting pressure from the New Republic Ruling Council,[6][3] and following an unfortunate incident involving her overzealous Noghri bodyguard Ahk'laht and an angry Barabel ambassador,[7] Chief of State[1] Organa Solo decided, in 11 ABY,[4] to send her Noghri bodyguards back home on Honoghr.[7]
Behind the scenes
- "Several years had passed since, in the face of mounting pressure from the Council, Leia had eliminated her bodyguard of Noghri hunter-killers. Leia understood it; even before the unfortunate incident of the Barabel ambassador, there were those who said it ill behooved her to wield a weapon that had been Palpatine's."
