An Imperial doonium refinery was a doonium mine and refinery constructed^[2] near the Tann Province^[3] on Ryloth by the Galactic Empire shortly after its formation^[2] in 19 BBY.^[4] The Empire claimed that the refinery would bring jobs to the Twi'lek population, and it was intended as the first of many sites. However, locals such as Eleni Syndulla and Gobi Glie were suspicious of the Empire's motives, noting that the new government was being very secretive for a group which was trying to claim they had nothing to hide. Syndulla further found the refinery's turbolasers and use of military personnel concerning, as the Empire had claimed it was not a military outpost.^[2]

Description

The doonium refinery was a large Imperial installation built on the planet Ryloth in 19 BBY, and was the first of many planned sites. Massive pipelines ran into the the depths of a large mountain and extracted doonium back into the installation to be refined. The bulk of the refinery's workforce was made up of the native Twi'lek population. The refinery was defended by several turbolasers and a garrison of clone stormtroopers.^[2]
