The Imperial Research Division was an organization dedicated to study and research for the Galactic Empire. In addition to its role in scientific research, the Imperial Research Division was also tasked to oversee and control private research throughout the galaxy. During the Galactic Civil War, the Corellian Security Force discovered an illegal and dangerous bioengineering project conducted by the GeneTech Syndicate company on Talus and dubbed Parasophic Arachne program. Its objective was to create an intelligent and powerful form of arachnes. The CorSec later filed a complaint with the Imperial Research Division against the GeneTech Syndicate for carrying out class 5 biological experiments on an inhabited world.[1]
