An identification chip was a security device that could be used to grant access to authorized personnel. Identification chips were scanned by sensors, and appropriate personnel were alerted if individuals entered secure areas without the chips.[1]
Identification chips were installed in Imperial code cylinders, listing an officer's identity and security clearances. The security stations and detention blocks of Imperial installations had sensor capable of scanning for identification chips built into automated laser traps.[1]
The Private Craft Terminal at Lola Curich Starport on the planet Lianna required an identification chip to enter. Identification chips were issued by either the government, or from the owner of a starship berthed in the Terminal.[2]
