An ice shard was a type of astronomical object that could be found in the Kijimi Nebula in the Mid Rim Kijimi system [1]
Behind the scenes
An ice shards first appeared in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.[2] Prior to the game's release on August 30, 2024, it was first shards, though unidentified, in the game's "Official Story Trailer" that was released on April 9 of the same year.[3] The term "ice shard" was first used in The Art of Star Wars: Outlaws reference book[1] released on August 19, 2025.[4] Ice shards were inspired by real world icebergs but instead of only seeing their tip they would appear in the form of big shards. During the developed of Star Wars Outlaws, the team at Massive Entertainment envisioned that a space–faring creature called the enrako and caused the star system's ice shards to emit vapors which in turn created the nebula.[1]
