A hover cannon.
Hover cannons were heavily armed, floating assassin droids with repulsors powerful enough to reach the Senate Landing Platforms of Coruscant. A number of them were used by the Coruscant mercenaries to attack Queen Padmé Amidala and Captain Quarsh Panaka as they traveled to 500 Republica in 32 BBY.
Behind the scenes
Hover cannons appear in 1999's Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace video game. The mission in which they appear completely contradicts the scene in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. In the film, Amidala goes straight to the Senate Building without incident.
