Hover platforms, or foot speeders were a type of personal repuslorcraft available during the Galactic Civil War.
Description
Constructed around a small, disk-shaped repulsorlift pad, the platform was designed for use by a single operator. The craft was controlled by a steering vane extending vertically from its base.[1]
History
During the early stages of the Galactic Civil War, the Sith Lord Darth Vader utilized a hover platform while personally leading a segment of Imperials to conduct a raid on Spaceport THX1138, after the discovery of a Rebel spy on one of the StarSpeeder 1000 transports.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Hover Platform appears in only one of the two possible opening scenes of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, used by Darth Vader.[2] The platform also came as part of an action figure set by Hasbro, known as Ambush at Star Tours, where it came with Darth Vader, two Sky Troopers and Boba Fett.[3]
