"As is this…. Look…snow! Snow at Solstice—hic—Tide."
―A drunken Besalisk revels in Coruscant's holo-snow[1]

Holo-snow was a type of holographic snow that sometimes fell as part of the planet Coruscant's controlled weather, as maintained by elemental engines. During Solstice Tide festivities[1] around 232 BBY,[2] the Jedi Master Stellan Gios decided to wait for a few minutes on Coruscant's Republic Avenue in order to experience the scheduled first few flakes of snow falling as guaranteed by the weather service. He was interrupted before the snow fall began by a disturbance in the Force caused by the thief Nittel Karkson, who he then pursued. During the pursuit Gios was stopped by a drunken Besalisk celebrating the Solstice, and as they spoke the holo-snow began to fall, pleasantly surprising the Besalisk despite the weather's guaranteed appearance. Holo-snow continued to fall from above as Gios then pursued Karkson into Coruscant's lower levels.[1]

Behind the scenes

Holo-snow appeared in "A Coruscant Solstice," a short story written by Cavan Scott and published in the 2021 Life Day Treasury anthology.[1]
