- "Fighters incoming. Gold Two and Five on me for the trench. The rest of the squad, engage the TIEs. Hold them off."
- ―Jon Vander gives orders to Okand and the rest of Gold Squadron
Hol Okand[3] was a human male who served as a starfighter pilot for the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. Okand flew a BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bomber as part of Gold Squadron during the Battle of Yavin.[2] By the battle's conclusion, he, along with all but one of his squadron, had been killed.[1]
Behind the scenes
Hol Okand first appeared as an unnamed Rebel Pilot in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[2] He was later identified and given a brief backstory in the Special Edition Limited expansion set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, published in November of 1998.[5] Although Decipher established that he was a member of Gold Squadron, a primarily Y-Wing filled squadron, Okand himself is seen sitting in a X-Wing in the film.[2]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The Battle of Yavin Scenario Pack establishes that Hol Okand flew as part of Gold Squadron during the Battle of Yavin in the Yavin system. "Grounded" states that all members of Gold Squadron participating in the battle were killed other than Lieutenant Evaan Verlaine. Hol Okand must therefore have died during the battle.
