Military History Monthly was a magazine[1] in circulation during the Clone Wars, fought between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2] The magazine was devoted to military history and featured articles covering both sides of the war.[1]
In 19 BBY,[3] during the Battle of Anaxes[2] and the mission to Skako Minor,[4] the cover of an issue of Military History Monthly was inside[1] the Marauder, the starship of the Republic's Clone Force 99 clone troopers.[5] Written in Aurebesh,[1] the cover showcased an image of a special ops clone trooper's helmet.[6] It featured the article "Geonosis: The Last Battle" and promoted the articles "Assassins of the Republic: Who Were They," "Battlefield Beasts: The Largest Machines of War," and "The Malevolence: Technical Weaknesses."[1]
Behind the scenes
- "These decorations are actually posters that the Bad Batch have hung on the walls of their ship. The designs are taken directly from the show. I love that the Bad Batch has decided to decorate their ship and make the space their own. It's a fun detail that I think sets them apart from standard clones."
- ―Senior Graphic Designer Madison O'Neil on his inclusion of Military History Monthly within the LEGO The Bad Batch Attack Shuttle playset
The cover of an issue of Military History Monthly was first depicted in "The Bad Batch,"[2] which aired on February 21, 2020 as the first episode of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars's seventh season.[8] The poster for that issue was created by Kilian Plunkett on February 9, 2018.[9] In the StarWars.com Episode Guide that accompanied "The Bad Batch," Military History Monthly was misidentified as "History Monthly."[1]
On May 6, 2021, journalist Kristin Baver exclusively announced a new buildable playset from the LEGO Group on StarWars.com. Inspired by the Bad Batch's Marauder, the set was named "The Bad Batch Attack Shuttle," and contained a depiction of Military History Monthly. Simply titled "History," the depiction had a light blue background and showcased a LEGO special ops clone trooper's helmet. It was designed by Senior Graphic Designer Madison O'Neil.[7]
