Historiography was an academic subject known to the Jedi Order. By the time of the High Republic Era, courses on it were taught to Jedi Padawans at the Jedi Temple on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant.[1] In 232 BBY,[2] the Jedi Master Jora Malli departed Coruscant for the Starlight Beacon space station in the Outer Rim. Her Padawan, Reath Silas, delayed his departure for the station by several weeks so he could complete the exams for the historiography class he was enrolled in. Though he considered failing the exams intentionally to stay on Coruscant due to his reluctance to leave, he ultimately could not bring himself to.[1]
Behind the scenes
Historiography was mentioned in the 2021 young-adult novel The High Republic: Into the Dark, written by Claudia Gray as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[3] In the real world, historiography is a field of study concerning the writing of history by synthesizing accurate sources into a narrative.[4]
