The high songs were songs sung by the native Alvadorjians of the planet Ylagia. By the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Alvadorjian Soujen Vak-Nhalis and his family had sung the songs at least once.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] he briefly spoke with the freedom fighter Karama about his origins on Ylagia. Though he considered telling her of the high songs and other culturally significant occurrences, he decided not to, considering his culture too sacred to share.[1]

Behind the scenes

The high songs were mentioned in the 2025 novel Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[1]

Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY.
