"[The Sith] dwelled close to the five major places where they performed their Mysteries. Each settlement was located near an elaborate lava cave system that had a specific focus...this one here, in a very temperate zone—the one that hosted what was called the High Rites—might be the most significant area to explore. Only the highest-ranking Sith—the ones strongest in the Force—conducted rituals here."
Jedi Knight Natua Wan, 44 ABY[1]

The High Rites were a series of ancient Sith rituals and acolyte initiations that were considered part of the Upekzar Mysteries. Like the Rites of Fire and the Cold Rites conducted by the ancient Sith at other sites along the Circle of Visions, the High Rites were undertaken within an elaborate volcanic cave system and involved the use of the rhak-skuri, an insectoid subspecies of diplura whose pheromones were known to generate nightmare-like hallucinations in certain humanoid species. Unlike the other rites, however, the High Rites were only conducted by the strongest Force users on Upekzar, most of whom lived in a city three kilometers away from the cave system in the shadow of a dormant volcano.[1]
