The high-atmosphere specialist life support pack was a form of life support worn by the UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft pilots of the Alliance to Restore the Republic instead of the standard Novaldex Diagnostech life support unit worn by most rebel pilots. This was due to the fact that, unlike other pilots, the U-wing pilots often had to open the doors to their craft at high altitudes in preparation for troop deployment or so that a gunner could fire on a target.[1]
In the rebel Blue Squadron the pilots Laren Joma, Heff Tobber, and Calum Gram wore high-atmosphere specialist life support packs. The device consisted of a white panel of buttons held over the wearer's chest by four black straps.[2]
Behind the scenes
The high-atmosphere specialist life support pack first appeared in the 2016 Anthology Series film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[3] It was first identified in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[2]
