Hela fish were a type of fish that could be eaten as food. While she lived on[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Coruscant, the scientist Avon Starros ate hot fried hela fish for dinner, and considered it one of the things that made Coruscant "amazing."[1] By 232 BBY,[3] Avon had been exiled from Coruscant to the outpost Port Haileap on the Outer Rim planet Haileap by her mother—the Galactic Republic senator Ghirra Starros.[1]
On Haileap, Avon spent time with the Jedi Padawan Imri Cantaros, which increased her curiosity about kyber crystals—crystals which powered the Jedi Order's lightsabers.[1] That year,[3] the girl mentally noted that she intended to be the first to analyze kyber crystals and their properties so she could enroll at the Coruscant University and return home to things like hot fried hela fish.[1]
