A heavy battalion was a formation within the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire that was composed of armored vehicles. During the Battle of Atollon, several heavy battalions that were part of an armored division under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn were deployed to Atollon's surface and engaged the Rebel Alliance's Phoenix Cell with its armored cavalry, All Terrain Armored Transports.[1]
