A heating pedestal was a type of device consisting of a tray held over a convection bulb. Several heating pedestals were used around the Resistance base on the moon Ajan Kloss in 35 ABY. One of these was owned by the Jedi-in-training Rey, who kept it on her workbench.
Description
A heating pedestals was a black device consisting of a small tray held by four supports over a convection bulb sat next to a small dial atop a wide base.[1]
History
One such device was owned by the Jedi-in-training Rey, who kept it on her workbench at the Resistance base on the moon Ajan Kloss. She used the equipment on the workbench to flex her mechanical skills, study the jedi texts and repair the Skywalker lightsaber by healing its kyber crystal.[1] In 35 ABY,[2] a lit pedestal was sat among other equipment on a table in the Resistance base that Rey knelt beside after returning from the nearby training course.[3]
Rey's pedestal was then sat with the bulb lit on her workbench when she was informed the YT-1300 light freighter known as the Millennium Falcon had returned to base. It was still lit and in the same location when Rey later retrieved[3] the Rammahgon,[1] one of the Jedi texts, from a container near the bench. A pedestal was later sat on top of a console being used by Resistance member Rose Tico in the base when General Leia Organa sensed through the Force that Rey had engaged her son, Ben Solo, in a duel.[3]
After Organa perished while reaching out to Solo, a lit pedestal was positioned on a table near her covered body when the Resistance gathered to mourn her death. Heating pedestals were sat on two consoles in the base while General Poe Dameron and others listened to a broadcast by the Final Order. A pedestal was then sat on a crate when Dameron and General Finn discussed the data that Finn had discovered in the databanks of the droid D-O.[3]
Behind the scenes
A heating pedestal first appeared in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[3] It was first identified in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary dates the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker to one year after the events of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of The Force Awakens to 34 ABY, the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which includes the appearance of the heating pedestal, must occur in 35 ABY.
