"I wish my parents could be here to see this."
"I have no doubt they'll both be watching. They're one with the planet now."
―Haru and Asu — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[2]

A male individual was the father of the Force-sensitive human Haru and her sister Saku, who were both the grandchildren of the chief of Meevai Village on the planet[2] Keelia.[3] At some point, Haru and Saku's father and mother both died.[2] During the Imperial Era, between 19 BBY to 1 BBY,[1] Haru was carried on a bridal chair by her groom Asu to a sacred location to perform a purification ceremony before their wedding. On the way, Haru said that she wished her parents could have been there. Asu responded that[2] he[4] had no doubt that they were watching and that they were one with the planet. During the wedding, after Saku was unable to convince Haru to not give herself up as a hostage to the raider Izuma, a villager commented on how Saku had already lost her parents.[2]

Behind the scenes

Haru and Saku's father was mentioned in "The Village Bride," an animated short film in the Star Wars: Visions series produced by Kinema Citrus Co. and released on Disney+[2] on September 22, 2021.[5] The character's gender was established in the original Japanese version of the short, in which Asu referred to them as oji,[2] a term used to refer to an older male individual.[6]
