This article covers a subject from a Star Wars: Visions story that Lucasfilm declared is set in an alternate history within a reimagined galaxy.

The Hanna City Flight Academy was an academy on the planet Chandrila.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Hanna City Flight Academy was designed by Aurelien Predal to be one of the main sets of the Aardman short "I Am Your Mother" from the second volume of Star Wars: Visions. The silhouette of the building had to be distinctive to be the landmark during the race at the end of the short. Playing around with different shapes, they soon settled on a trophy/hourglass shape which feels as a good fit for what the Academy represents in the story.[2]

The city and its academy was mocked up to model making and CG departments at Aardman through Maya, allowing Perdal to define the layout of the Academy and by working closely with the storyboard department to do some changes as the writing and mise-en-scene evolved. This allows Perdal to find simple shapes for the buildings in Hanna City to create a rich and diverse looking city while keeping the number of designs to a minimum.[2]
