Had Abbadon was an ancient lost mythic planet, located in the Deep Core.^[2] According to some legends, the planet may have been linked to the origin of the Jedi Order or its forerunners.^[3]

History

During the Galactic War, the Sith Lord Madreeg was searching for the lost world of Had Abbadon.^[4]

In 137 ABY, Cade Skywalker planned to lure the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Krayt, to Had Abbadon in order to assassinate him and bring down the Sith Order and his Galactic Empire.^[2] By this time, the planet was home to an Imperial garrison loyal to the Sith usurper.

In the Rough Draft and Revised Rough Draft of the script for Return of the Jedi, Had Abbadon was the name of the Imperial capital— which would later be named Coruscant in the Thrawn Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy. It was a city-planet orbited by two Death Stars under construction, and a "Green Moon", which the Second Draft of the script would name Jus-Endor and the Revised Second Draft would name Endor. It had an Imperial Palace, the lowest levels of which were home to Emperor Palpatine's throne room, surrounded by a lake of lava, around which Luke Skywalker would duel Darth Vader. Starting with the Second Draft of the script, the Emperor's throne room was moved to the Death Star II.^[5]^[6]
