The HR-IO4 ion railgun was a type of ion rail gun produced by Balmorran Arms during the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. The starship-mounted HR-IO4 had an extraordinary range, firing ion particles enclosed in a magnetic field in order to cause severe damage to enemy starfighters' shields and drain weapon and engine power.[1]
